Freestyle Libre app has stopped working, NFC blocked

This question has been asked before but not answered. I will try again:

I have a Freestyle Libre Sensor for which I have downloaded the Freestyle Libre App.

The scanner did work for about a year, and then it became harder and harder to do a measurement until it finally stopped working altogether. at the same time my Apple Pay has also stopped working.

I have had contact with Apple support (Netherlands) and all they can say is that my NFC is in good condition but that apparently a certain app is still blocking it. They can’t tell which app that is (they remotely inspected my iPhone). So not sure that the problem is caused by the Freestyle Libre app.

Other users who have faced similar problems have reset the phone, deleted and reinstalled the app, logged out of Apple ID and logged back in, changed password, but still it does not work. The manufacturer of the app (Abbott) say they are working on an update of the app but no indication when that will be available.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
