I did. Reformatted the drive and a full restore from TIme Machine. The curious thing was theinternet restore only offered the last versoon of Ventura so I did that first and then applied the Sonoma update before restoring my data. A password is not required for the guest user. When you select Guest in the iOS Files App>Connect to Server, the username and password prompts disappear (see the second screenshot above). Because the Guest User has “Allow guest users to access shared folders”, the shared folders are rendered after the server connects - without a password! Needless to say, this would not be acceptable in a real world situation.

You said you entered a password.

Guest login and the guest user are not related. When Apple rearrange the settings, they moved the setting into the Guest user section because it makes more sense there, but it’s not the guest user. Logging in remotely with guest predates the Guest user account.

I take the Full Disk Access into consideration, so before I do the file sharing, I turn them on. but, the issue still shows in the end.

I have no idea what you are trying to show. Please explain the problem you are having with SMB file sharing.

Wasted a ton of time of this. Apple doesn't answer bug reports and just leaves us wondering what happened.

I have tried the solution on Ventura 13.0.1 and it does not work and still making folders on all files being edited or saved.

I have tried this multiple times and still creating folders.

I upgraded macOS on both the Ventura file-sharer and the Monterey client today. Sadly, the issue persists. That was sad news.

Turning file sharing off, rebooting, then turning file sharing back on did not work for me.

I'm glad it worked for you. My user account that shares my files already had admin privileges and it didn't work for me.

I'm having the same issues. I just cannot connect file sharing at all between two M1 iMacs w/ Ventura.
