On your Mac, choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after your Mac starts (some Mac computers play a startup sound), press and hold the Shift key.
Release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple logo and progress indicator.

Wheelienick,

Thanks, but my situation’s not with getting into basic mode.

My problem is I have a12 yr. old MacBook Pro using a magic keyboard and a Magic Trackpad because the old keyboard and built in track pad don’t work and I somehow cut off the Bluetooth and now can’t login.

There’s an Apple store a few blocks away, I’ll check in with them on Monday.
