iOS - Google Search Window Disappears Behind Safari Address Bar

After the latest iOS update version 16.1 (20B82), when I use Safari to access Google, as soon as I tap into the search window, the search window disappears behind the Safari address bar at the top of the screen, so I can’t see what I’m typing. Seems like a bug, because it did not use to do this. Is any one else having this problem?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

I think I found a fix for this. Go to Settings->Safari and scroll to the bottom where see “page zoom”. Mine shows setting for Page Zoom on “google” and seprste settings for “other websites”. Google was set to 115%, I change this to 100% and problem solved.

Note I am unsure why it showed Google as a separate option from all other sites, possibly because I was on that site when I went to settings.

Mine has reverted back to hiding the search bar again. Definitely horrible design. I’m starting a new job tomorrow and they’re giving me a work phone. I’m hoping it’s an android because I’ve been wanting to try one after seeing iPhones go downhill year after year. Hopefully I dig the android operating system and can switch my personal phone over also. Never wanted to buy one and find out if I liked the system, but if they’re giving it to me for free I’ll give it a try.

I have problems with Google all the time taking over my computer and wants me to only type it’s email address and nobody else’s it’s very rude and very time-consuming trying to get it off girls are real pain in the butt as far as I’m concerned I wish I’d never put it on my computer at all the only thing I use it for is indeed and I’m about ready to get rid of that

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!

Finallyy, the only option that actually worked and fixed the **** ghost👻🖕🏼, can’t play possum on me no more, ha!

In fact, fixed two issues for me personally. Not only it keeps the google search box in its **** place, but I CAN SEE **** BETTER now that it displays everything in LARGER TEXT vs DEFAULT! (Because of my poor eyesight).

I always need to zoom in on **** to be able to read better without putting a strain on my eyes, but then mapping around page was very annoying part since page doesn’t fit in screen when manually zoom in, unless i changed setting to 115-120% or even more, which then I didn’t like to keep that setting on for everything to be displayed so large at all times including home screen & apps letters. This route seems to work better the way. Im still adjusting to it, i mean it’s super nice like a blessing from the sky but not sure how im going to like it overall after sometime. I’m afraid running into some new or bigger issue before i know it, as I’m sure often happens to many of us wen solving one problem creates another. Solving 2 problems in one set, sound too good to be true nowadays. I guess will wait n see. Lol

But. Thank you Jesus for doce274! Amen

Too bad…now Apple has you trapped into their ecosystem. Ha, ha, they don’t have to fix any problems, like this, that “most” of their customer base faces…because Apple knows you aren’t going anywhere due to the $10,000 dollars worth of other Apple products you own anchoring you to them, (like a boat anchor slung around your neck to drown you.)

Besides, they’ve got higher priorities to create, and add more useless features…vs calling up Google Dev Stakeholders and saying “Heh Google…What Gives? How can we fix this abortion?”.

Corporate executives couldn’t give a rats *** about us peon customers (or the populace in general).

Well, that was a nice, albeit brief, 6 days of having a functioning Google Search text field, that didn’t scroll up above the top of the screen whenever tapped upon.

As of this morning I have noticed that it is no longer working, and constantly scrolls off the top of the screen again, just as it did before whatever chance happening fixed it 6 days ago.

Between yesterday and today no settings on my phone have changed. It’s simply decided to disappear off the top of the screen again and requires scrolling back down.

It really does seem ridiculous to me that no one from Apple appears to have a single clue as to what is causing it to start scrolling like this, then to stop doing it for a brief period, and then, seemingly, for no apparent reason at all, return to scrolling up again. Just one of life’s mysteries I suppose.

Perhaps it has something to do with sunspots or solar flares? Or there’s someone at Google fiddling around with live server side code?

Or, most likely, and my favourite option, there’s a tiny little imp, as in Commander Vimes’ Disorganiser Mark V (Terry Pratchett), singing “Bingly-Bingley-Beep” before toggling the code option one way or the other.
