iOS - Google Search Window Disappears Behind Safari Address Bar

This did not fix my problem. In addition, when I turned off Javascript, I was not able to use certain websites and pay for purchases without turning it back on. I was hoping the iOS 16.2 update would fix it but it hasn't.

Same issue here (13 Pro Max, 16.2 but it started in an earlier iOS version, can’t remember which).

I don’t see AT ALL how I as a customer have to get in contact with Google or whomever so a problem I didn’t cause or can fix myself gets fixed eventually. Laughable. I will not beta test final iOS releases LOL

I’ve been an Apple customer for a lot more than a decade and have no intention to leave their ecosystem. However, their software, no matter for which device, is going downhill and hard. Siri, HomeKit? Train wrecks.

FIX IT.

Clearly you don’t have any idea of the issue at hand. You are NOT a senior advisor, just a “community specialist” with nothing better to do. Posting silly articles that are of no use and do it address the issue isn’t helping. Leave the big issues to actual tech support.

With all due respect, I don’t think so. I have it on a 13 Pro Max, my girlfriend has it on an 11. Several other models have been reported here. Also, the 8 doesn’t have any kind of notch. The screen estate is different.

iPhone 8 is the last model where the screen is rectangular. The screen doesn’t go all the way to the top.

Starting from iPhone X, the screen extends to around the camera. So, I am guessing the google search issue is with all iPhone models with screen that extend around the camera (starting from iPhone X model).

I hope this helps the google programmers pinpoint the problem.

I know all that and more. But this isn’t about a workaround or an even easier method of reaching a goal. It’s about a thing that has worked and Apple has messed it up with their support saying it’s on Google’s end. And it’s about (and I speak for myself) a workflow I have and obviously don’t want to have to change. To each their own.

Same problem as everybody else. Tried all suggestions, but I don’t want to change my workflow. I need full functionality - It’s what we paid for. I see this issue has been going on some time.

Is there a way to roll back to the previous version in the meantime, while your engineers work on the problem? (if it’s being worked on at all ) - never mind I found my answer. We would halve backup then restore data if a rollback is done.

One more question: How many constituents need to report before we get some action?

Apple happily took our money when we bought our devices forgetting that they were once the computing solutions underdog. They don’t care about cutting off support for perfectly functional devices.

Shame on us for supporting their greed.

My iPhone 13 Pro (a gift from my wife) with this hidden field typing bar in Safari has me terribly disappointed. Works fine with Google App and other web surfing apps on my iPhone. Shame shame shame on you Apple for not properly vetting YOUR OWN browser software ON YOUR OWN HARDWARE.

I don’t care if you fix it or not. My next mobile phone device, laptop, and tablets will no longer Apple products. You lost me by your non action and forced obsolescence of perfectly functional devices. YOU APPLE CORP, are a massive cause of global warming by forcing people to put functional electronics into the landfill and 3rd world recycling depots.

Despite how extremely frustrating and inconvenient this issue is, I don’t think most people experiencing it would rate it very high on the importance scale enough to call into Apple or go to an Apple Store. In fact for me, muscle memory took over at some point and now I just do whatever extra step is involved by default to see what I’m typing. It’s just annoying enough to come on to here and complain about it a bit. Lol!

Yeah I have this problem too, have had it for weeks. Very glad I found this thread because in the beginning there was no mention of this problem anywhere on the internet, and I thought maybe I was losing my mind.

Alas I have no solution—just gotta wait till someone somewhere fixes it, apparently, But I just signed in to add my two cents that this is unacceptable.

One of the biggest richest companies in the world and they mess up something so basic and so simple, and in a way that is so ANNOYING , that you just want to hurl your phone into the river.

No… haven’t heard from Apple. The issue simply has disappeared. It’s no longer a problem in Safari or Chrome. Whatever was done must have been silently pushed through because I haven’t even rebooted my phone since the last time I posted and had the problem, nor was there any iOS update. Still 16.2. Same version as well (as depicted in the accompanying photo).

Fixed for me as of today with no settings changed or reboot. Who knows what it was or how it was fixed, just know it was nothing I did

For those of you who had it fixed can you actually type in the search box itself? I can type on a line now near the top of the page and I can see it. But it’s not in the actual search box. Hopefully mine is fixed soon. I have an iPhone 11.

Mine is a line I type in at the top of the page, but I can finally see what I’m typing now (address bar also at the top of the screen as well which the line is just under)

I thought it was always like that on mobile though, so you could see more previous search results below? Can’t remember actually typing in the search box before…quite a few heavy nights since this issue first began though so can’t quite remember either way :)

Thanks for that. That’s what my screen looks like now as well. However, on my iPad the search box is in the middle of the screen and I type in the actual search box. But like you said, I can’t remember now what my iPhone 11 looked like before 16.2 update. But I thought I typed in the actual search box and not at the top on a line. But I could be wrong.
