Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My iPhone is updated to the latest iOS but it won't even open the update option for my Apple Watch. The suggested remedies don't work and the "Delete Update" never appears. The little go-around wheel never stops searching for updates.

How do I either delete the update so it can search for a functioning update or how do I get the iPhone to actually allow or facilitate the Apple Watch update? I've rebooted my watch and iPhone ad nauseum. It is apparently causing my weather mate pro app to balk at updating the weather, which I can't remedy either, even after going through all the suggested avenues to get it to work. It seems to come down to this failed OS update. Help

Hey there RCountrykid,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, are you having issues updating your Apple Watch that is paired with your iPhone, or are you trying to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone and getting an alert that the Apple Watch requires an update to pair?

If having issues with updating your Apple Watch that is paired with your iPhone, have you gone through the steps in the 'Related Article' under the "Need more help with updating?" section?

Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Need more help with updating?
Try these steps:
1. Make sure that your Apple Watch is connecting properly to its charger
2. Restart your Apple Watch.
3. Restart your paired iPhone.
4. Try again to update your Apple Watch.

If the update won't start:
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Tap General > Software Update.
3. Delete the update file.
4. Try again to update your Apple Watch.

Learn what to do if you see 'Cannot Install Update' when updating Apple Watch or if your Apple Watch says you need more available storage to install a watchOS update.

If so, or if you're experiencing issues with pairing your Apple Watch, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly at this link here: Get Support - Apple

We hope that's able to help.

Take care!

Yes, I have done all of the suggested steps. I'm speaking of my Apple Watch which is and has been paired to my iPhone for a couple of years and the weather app has worked perfectly until this week. Suddenly it won't update the weather or the OS, though the iOS on my iPhone is updated to the latest version. I even tried removing the app weather app and reinstalling it to no avail. There is no "Delete the Update" available. Instead, the circular burst 'Checking for Update...' is all that shows. Nor is there a way to update the OS. It tried to do the update a few days ago when I requested it, but it, too, stuck. It then seemed to update the OS on the phone but not the Watch app, again giving me the ongoing "Checking for Update..." then failing finally. The 'apparent' update, update version number and all disappeared on my watch.

My iPhone is updated to the latest iOS but it won't even open the update option for my Apple Watch. The suggested remedies don't work and the "Delete Update" never appears. The little go-around wheel never stops searching for updates.
