Older iPad & Display Mirroring

I have an older iPad Model ME400LL/A running on software version 10.3.4 (the last uploadable version to this old iPad) and asking if it will mirror the display from my MPB M1, or as I suspect, no as its too old???

Your iPad does not support external video input - and cannot be used as a simple external display for HDMI, VGA or composite video sources.

An iPad can be used with a compatible Mac to extend the Mac display to the iPad using the Catalina/iPadOS Sidecar feature.

Use iPad as a second display for your Mac – Apple Support

However, your iPad4 is far too old to support Sidecar.
