link not showing when cursor moves over

It used to be when I moved the cursor over a link I could see the html without clicking the link. As I recall it showed up at the bottom of the window. This has disappeared, but I don't know in which version of Safari it went away or if it's possible to get this feature back. I liked it because it allowed me to ignore a link without having to click on it if it looked suspicious or wasn't what I wanted. Thanks for any help or suggestions. I have Safari 16.1 running with Big Sur 11.7.1 on a mid 2014 MacBook Pro.

Hello Rich Mason,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

We can help you enable this feature in Safari again as we understand it is a useful one. Please use these instructions:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Select the “View” dropdown menu.
  3. Click “Show Status Bar”.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut “Command + /“ to toggle this feature.
