Ventura Behavior Changed: Photos Upload Dialog - Can't See Folders and Albums, only the entire Library.

When I attempt to upload photos to Smugmug via its Web interface, I click "browse this computer" and a Finder-ish dialog pops up. Prior to Ventura, when I click on "Photos" under "Media" in the left side pane, it would bring up a new pane that had at the top, the Apple Photos color-wheel icon, with a dropdown that showed my Apple Photos Folder and Album structure. I could navigate to a Photos Folder / Album, select the photos from that album I wanted and they would upload. Now in Ventura, the behavior changed. In Ventura when I click "browse this computer" on the same Smugmug interface, the Finder-ish dialog pop-up still shows "Photos" under "Media", but I do not have the option of navigating through my Apple Photos Folders and Albums. I only see a view equivalent to Library / Photos in Apple Photos. There is a blue folder saying Photos at the top, no color-wheel, and no Folder/Album structure, and no way to navigate to a particular Album in Apple Photos. I want to see the Folder / Album information so I can easily find the photos I have already organized into albums and not have to pick through my entire library. I have tried Safari and Chrome with the same result. How can this functionality be restored in Ventura?

I was told by Apple today it's not going to be "fixed", that they have purposely removed it. They had me fill in a request asking to consider reinstating it. For those of us running businesses this is crazy. Saving them to a file or sharing still does not fix as it won't allow to set the order of the photos. I am searching for an app to add.

Is there such a thing as a photo app with Ventura 13.2 that only works on an iPhone? If so, that's nuts for a lot of reasons. I'm 75 and in the beginning stages of macular degeneration ~ having to use a phone to work with photos is just impossibly difficult! I need those larger files to see and work with!! I'm sure I'm not the only person using a MacBook Pro who is challenged. Apple, I'm soooo disappointed in your lack of concern for all of your users.

That would be wonderful! I'm not a business but I feel for those owners who were blind-sided by Apple's obvious mistake. I'm simply a person who uses my Photos a lot as both my husband and I create books for our grandkids as well as for ourselves. I'm hoping this gets resolved fast so I can finally do our 50th Anniversary book before March 10! Yes, I could probably do drag and drop but OMG I am 75, with the beginning stages of macular degeneration and I hate wasting all that time and energy when it was originally a perfect (for the most part) application. Thank you for this information, Old Toad!

There are two ways to add a keyword to a photo:

1 - select the photo(s) and bring up it's Info pane (⌘_i). Then type in the keyword you want to use in the Keyword field.

2 - select the photo(s) and type ⌘+k to bring up the Keyword pane. If the keyword is already in the list select it. If it isn't then click on the "+" button at the bottom and add the keyword you want to use. Then close the edit and select the keyword.

I was just trying to clarify, not deride. You make a pretty large claim there:

I don't think it's going to be fixed. ... Apple deemed it a security issue and decided to disable the application.

If what you say is true, then there is no solution. And the folks on here suggesting you file a bug report (which they do in good faith) are wasting their time and yours too. As Apple have not said anything publicly, and you seem to have extra information, I thought it worth clarifying your source so that we might evaluate the rather large claim you're making.

So, I think I'm quite entitled to ask is your source:

the guy went in back and talked to the other guy, who claimed to have talked to Apple Support, who told him things they've told nobody else.

Or do you have some other inside track no one else is privy too. No need to get defensive or offended, just answer the question.

And if you actually believe what you write, that Apple have deliberately disabled the application, then why are you demanding that I or anybody else provide a solution when none is possible, as Apple have disabled the application. I'm just trying to understand.

I was passing on information which I received from what I consider to be a credible source. Graphite is a well-respected company here in Madison. It serves the University of Wisconsin and is an Apple Authorized Service Provider. I bought my latest MacBook Pro from the company and have never experienced any bad advice. Apple no longer has a store in Madison so Graphite is the only reliable source, as far as I know. I shared what I was told and it certainly sounded credible. Perhaps no one there knows what to do. I am sorry I passed on information; I thought I was being helpful. That said, YOUR response was snarky and not deserved.
