thunderbolt bridge question

Mac air thunderbolt bridge, under WINS I see my Mac name including that is currently being used. red dot continuously , haven’t seen green dot at all.

but under my Mac name I see workgroup. does that mean its been connected before?

or is that part of Mac ?

Not quite sure where this question is headed...


Do you have an app development-related question about networking, or about WINS or NetBIOS? Or are you looking at the local Ventura settings and curious about what you're seeing, and are not working on an app?


Could you explain your particular network configuration and topology in a little more detail, including which of the various available network interfaces you're using (Wired, Wi-Fi, external wired adapters or docks, etc)?


Also whether you're using NetBIOS on your local network, as that is mostly seen when interoperating with established or older Microsoft environments. The NetBIOS stuff does pre-populate, but comparatively few turn that on.


The Thunderbolt bridge does get used for some stuff, but it's not all that commonly encountered. It can be used for a network connection established over a Thunderbolt cable between a couple of Macs for instance, but that's not all that common. Most folks use Wi-Fi.
