Firewall Blocks Screen Sharing with new Mac Mini Ventura

I'm baffled. It worked with my old Mac Mini.

It works if I turn off the firewall, and stops if I turn on the firewall.

I do not have "block all connections" set.

File sharing works.

I tried doing it all in safe mode, and that fixed nothing.

I saw an old discussion from June about a similar problem which appears to be closed, but no resolution.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

On Ventura, if you plan to share the screen of your new Mac mini elsewhere, then your Network > Firewall > Options… panel needs to look like the following. By selecting Sharing > Screen Sharing earlier, you should see the green enabled Screen Sharing, and if you do not, then click the [+] button to see if it is added where you would enable Allow incoming connections.

If you do not plan to share the screen from the new Mac mini, then uncheck the Sharing > Screen Sharing, and re-enable Block all incoming connections.

The redesigned Ventura Settings panel is the king of all PITA to navigate.

I had a mac mini running the last OS that I could access via Screen Sharing.

I bought a new mac Mini that runs Ventura. I can't connect to it even though I have turned on screen sharing, unless I turn off its firewall.

When I searched this forum, I found a similar topic that had advice but no resolution. Firewall is blocking Screen Sharing - Apple Community

I tried to reply to that thread but I can't, I think due to the age of the thread. The site prompted me to open up a new topic. So I did.
