M1 MacBook Pro Trackpad stops registering clicks

I've got a weird new bug in my M1 Max 16 inch (2021) MacBook Pro: occasionally the trackpad stops registering clicks. I've found that I can connect an apple Magic Mouse to my MBP, and the mouse clicks as expected, but the trackpad has stopped registering clicks.

Re-booting the MBP will return the trackpad to normal functionality (ie - it responds to clicks again).

I usually leave my MBP on all the time, and put it into sleep mode as I travel to & from work with it (I don't re-start it very often); but I don't think that this should be a problem.

I'm running OSX 12.6.1
