Uses of Lightning Port on 2021 9th Generation iPad

Are both charging and audio output functions available through this port? I realize there's a separate 3.5mm audio port/jack on this iPad, but if a rotatable-type case holding the iPad is in the portrait position the audio or lightning port will be covered. If the lightning port can be used for both functions the iPad could be in the portrait position oriented with the audio port covered. I realize there are iPad stands/holders that leave both the lightning and audio ports uncovered, but I prefer the greater stability offered by the rotatable case design which places one side of the iPad firmly on the table surface.
