FaceTime and iMessage log in

Can’t log in to FaceTime or iMessage server from iPad. I have researched this issue and tried to follow all the remedies proposed by apple and online to no success. This came about suddenly when answering a FaceTime call after years of use without a problem. Never had a requirement to log in before. I have done a full reset and restore on the iPad. I have updated iOS twice, latest to iOS 16. Still no joy. Coul it be a hardware isssue?

Perhaps you haven’t found this Apple Support page - that describes the necessary steps to resolve issues with iMessage and FaceTime:

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support


If you continue to experience difficulties, you might be well advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
