Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI, in GarageBand for iMac

All of a sudden, I get "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI" when using my Yamaha P-125 digital piano via MIDI on my iMac 10.15.7, using Garageband 10.3.5. This has worked for years, and just got this glitch.

It says "Sample Rate 39,173 recognized. Check conflict between GarageBand and external device."

I've looked at the "MIDI Studio" app, and tried various check boxes on it, to no avail. I don't have special add-ons, or other applications running, so I'm not running out of resources.

On something I viewed, it said 44,100 Hz was desired, 2-channel, 16-bit integer. But I don't know how to reconcile the keyboard with that.

Any suggestions? I really enjoy recording my piano playing within GarageBand, so that I can do minor edits.

Justin_900s reply is useful, but the Apple Support Page refers to settings in Logic Pro, not GarageBand. A very helpful Apple Support telephone person solved the problem by having me restart my computer, and reloading GarageBand. So problem is solved.

Hello rha90272,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help resolve the error so you can continue recording your piano on GarageBand.

Start with these steps for the error message that you're seeing:

"Learn what to do if you see “Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI” in Logic Pro.

This alert appears when the sample rate of an incoming audio signal doesn't match the project's sample rate or if the sample rate fluctuates. It appears most often when using an external audio interface, an external sync device, or plug-ins.

Follow the recommendations in this article to keep the alert from interrupting your session. After each recommendation, try playing your project to see if the alert still appears. If the alert still appears, try the next recommendation until the alert no longer appears."

This Apple Support page has the full details and next steps to take to resolve the "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI" error: If you see an audio and MIDI sync alert in Logic Pro - Apple Support

This should help take care of the error so you can get the most from GarageBand again.

Cheers!
