iPad Not Recognizing Pencil

My 2nd Gen Apple Pencil was in my work bag and the replaceable tip broke. I was able to get the broken piece unscrewed and out of the pencil. I replaced the tip with a new one, but the pencil is not recognized when I try to use it. The iPad does recognize the pencil when it is magnetically charging, but the brand new apple pencil tip seems not to be working. I’m thinking that maybe the pencil may have gotten damaged too, but do not see any damage.

I’m looking for guidance/suggestions/wisdom, etc.

iPad Pro, 12.9-inch, 6th Gen, Cell 5G

You could have very well damagd the metal sensor rod that sticlks past the Pencil when the plastic replaceable tip is removed.

If your Apple Pencil is still under its one-year warranty period, you are still entitled to a free replacement Apple Pencil from Apple.

If out of its free, one year warranty, you will need to purchase a brand new Apple Pencil.

Use the “Get Support” link, in the black menu bar, at the upper right hand corner of every Apple Support Community Webpage, to attempt to schedule an appointment with your nearest Apple Store location and bring in both iPad your defective Pencil.

Apple Store employees will be glad to help/assist you with getting another free, replacement Apple Pencil.

Test this Pencil in the Apple Store before you leave the store to make sure both your iPad and replacement Pencil are working together.

Sorry and Best of Luck to You!
