Apple Mail Filters

I put an email address under a filter on the Gmail Website to skip the inbox and go directly to a label. The issue is that on the apple mail app it goes straight to the inbox, and also on the Gmail website even though there's a filter. Is that apple's fault? How Do I make it skip the inbox?
