Could not setup airtag Apple ID issue when i got a new iPhone.

I repeatedly rec'd the "could not setup up airtag" error message followed by a request to log into apple with my apple ID in settings. Here is a whole summary of what worked for me when move my airtags from OLD iPhone to NEW one. Make sure your iOS is properly updated before starting. I hear these airtags don't work on anything below 14.5

1) remove airtag(s) from Find My Phone on your OLD phone.

2) remove/reinsert the battery from your airtag(s) FIVE times. Make sure you get the beep signal each time you reinsert the battery and replace the silver case each time.

3) Make sure Find My Phone (NEW phone) is ON.

4) turn off your NEW phone. count to 10. turn on your NEW phone.

5) go back into Find My Phone, tap "items," and now it should complete the setup of each airtag.
