Suddenly the Photos app on my Mac does not show pictures

Hi,

When I opened my 'Photos' app on my Mac this morning there was not any picture there....

Last week when I opened it the last time there were still pictures since spring (probably around a thousand).

Please see screenshots attached from this morning.

Any idea where they gone and how I could get them back ?

(FYI., I do not use iCloud for backup, I usually move my actual Photos Library.photoslibrary' file to an external drive occasionally, rename and store them there. then I create a new System Photo Library again for the upcoming uploads. This did not happen this time....).

Thanks,

Laci

Wow--that's awful! 3.7 MB certainly indicates that this is an empty library. Please give us some more information:

It's always useful to know the MacBook model and the Operating System you're using.

In Photos>Preferences>General, is "Use as System Library" bold or grayed out? (If it's grayed out, then this is your system library.)

Is "Copy Items to the Photos Library" checked? (This is the normal setting.)

In Photos>Preferences>iCloud is "iCloud Photos" checked ("no," from what you say)
