“New iCloud Terms & Conditions” Popup Bug — Post Ventura Update

Hey community, I'm here to plead with you in hopes you may have a solution for my mildly inconvenient, but HIGHLY frustrating situation. Since my upgrade to Ventura, I've received a popup hourly reminding me to "agree to the new iCloud t's & c's"-- to which I comply, tick the box, and submit. The only issue is it does not go away. I've agreed to the t's & c's more than 40 times, and nothing changes. The popup notification on my MacBook pro cannot even be closed without navigating me out of my work and taking me to the settings app to agree. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Here's what worked for me to resolve the persistent "New iCloud Terms and Conditions" red reminder.

The resolution to this involved iPhone settings even though this message NEVER appeared on my iPhone. I have two active iCloud accounts. On iPhone, I went to Settings => Mail => Accounts, then tapped my alternate iCloud email account. Suddenly an alert popped up asking me to accept Apple's new iCloud T's & C's. Accepting through this interface made the red reminder go away on my iMac in seconds.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, damaged files are reset and fixed to how they should be. So, boot in Safe Mode > Log in as the same user > and then try accepting the Terms & Conditions. See Here: Start Op your Mac in Safe Mode - Apple Support

Worked for me: log out of iCloud; log in to iCloud; configure iCloud; done.

No reboot needed.

No more notification badge (1) “New iCloud Terms & Conditions” reminder showing in System Preferences. Success!

More details:

• Had already agreed to the “New iCloud Terms & Conditions” numerous times, with no effect.

• System Preferences.

• Apple ID ... scroll to bottom ... "Sign Out".

• Accept that all iCloud services, syncing, etc. will shut off.

• »»» list: Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support

• Keep a Copy -- of your iCloud data on your Mac.

• Keep on This Mac -- Safari passwords, etc.

• (Keep copies on your Mac of documents stored in iCloud Drive and data stored in iCloud by Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, and Messages.)

###

• Log into iCloud.

• Provide password for the iMac (and it's previous password!)

• Set up iCloud ... re-enable iCloud services that had been shut off by the logout ... Find My Mac, iCloud Drive, Contacts, etc. and so on.

• Sign in to App Store.

• Sign in to iMessage.

My wife had the same problem. It turned out to be that my wife's mac was logged into iCloud on my account, probably from when I first set it up. I am the icloud owner but shared with her. I logged her out of iClound on her mac and then logged her in again on her mac with her iCloud account. Problem resolved.... Key was to notice on her mac when asking to agree to terms and conditions, it was asking for the password to my account. Took me several times before I saw that....

New iCloud Session:
Sign Out of iCloud on your Mac, and then log back in. Go into System Preferences > Click your name on the left > Sign Put > Restart the Mac > Sign back in.

For clarity, at first glance, the above suggestion appears to describe several different steps in succession. However, this suggestion actually mentions the same solution twice.

"Sign out of iCloud on your Mac, and then log back in" is the recommended solution.

Then, the next part ("Go into System Preferences…) describes the individual steps required to sign out and log back in. These appear to be additional steps, but they are not.

(This solution did work for me. Thanks!)

I managed to resolve the pop-up issue related to new iCloud terms and conditions on my MacBook Pro. I have a few iCloud accounts linked to all my devices. I discovered that one iCloud account on the MacBook Pro required password verification. However, the account needing verification did not match the one I had initially clicked on. Interestingly, I found a similar mismatch issue on my iPad Mini as well. To solve this, I deleted the affected iCloud account and the account it was getting mixed up with from both the MacBook Pro and iPad Mini. After doing so, the pop-up issue was resolved. I then added the accounts back and have not faced any issues since.

I was also getting these repeated New iCloud Terms and Conditions notices that interrupted whatever I was doing every few minutes. I accepted the T&Cs numerous times.

I finally logged out of iCloud (System Settings/your name at the top of the screen/Log Out at the bottom of the screen).

Then I had trouble logging back in. When I used my .icloud user name and Apple password, the system appeared to log in and sent a verification code to my phone, but then it reset at the login screen. After failing using this route about three times, I tried logging in using my .mac user name. I entered my Apple password and later got to a step to enter my local desktop password, which I hadn't gotten to using the .icloud user name.

I then got a "Login Failed" message. However, this message disappeared and I seem to have logged into my iCloud account successfully. So far I am not getting the New Terms and Condition popup.

Fingers crossed that I am good to go.

*I just discovered that when I logged out of iCloud, I disconnected my bank credit card from Apple Pay. I had to go back and reestablish this on the desktop at System Settings/Wallet and Apply Pay, near the bottom of the System Settings window.

I decided to contact Apple Support on this. It was escalated and the support person and I worked through several scenarios. What finally fixed it was to log into iCloud from the offending computer checking all of the settings tabs and from there logging into the manage my AppleID and walking through all settings there. This seemed to cause it to finally sync things with my computer because somewhere during this process the notification went away and has stayed away. There is no longer a line item for that notification in my System Settings.

I have a solution that worked for me. On your iPhone go to mail and choose accounts. click on each of your iCloud mail accounts (if you have more than one) and the terms will come up. Choose view terms and then agree to terms and conditions. Somehow, my Mac is happy now that I agreed on my phone. It worked for me several weeks ago when the annoying message popped up on my MAC and again today when it started again.

The very absent person here is the one from Apple support, admitting that Apple has a long standing bug and how it can be resolved. Having to resolve this trhough chat is not OK. Is it a cultural thing in the US not to admit your mistakes, or the fact that everyone gets sued over nothing :-)

The problem - in my case - was 2 AppleIDs, which is not very well supported yet. I had to accept the new terms and conditions to use iCloud on my Mac, but I could apparantly do this as well from my iPhone - uh for all my Macs.

Settings->Mail->visit secondary iCloud email account. As mentioned before by someone. You get the conditions dialog there after a short load delay. And then the notification goes away immediately on every Mac.

Multiple Apple IDs - logical if you have a European company that needs VAT invoices for software, and you use your Mac also privately - is somehow not well understood by Apple. But a little support is always better then no support :-)
