“New iCloud Terms & Conditions” Popup Bug — Post Ventura Update

Hey community, I'm here to plead with you in hopes you may have a solution for my mildly inconvenient, but HIGHLY frustrating situation. Since my upgrade to Ventura, I've received a popup hourly reminding me to "agree to the new iCloud t's & c's"-- to which I comply, tick the box, and submit. The only issue is it does not go away. I've agreed to the t's & c's more than 40 times, and nothing changes. The popup notification on my MacBook pro cannot even be closed without navigating me out of my work and taking me to the settings app to agree. Any suggestions? Thank you.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.0

It looks like you already tried it on page one of this thread and did not work for you.

Went perfect for me as you can tell by my excited response in the thread link below.

Anyway here is the thread =

Unable to accept iCloud Terms and Conditi… - Apple Community

Here is something I found on my own if you do not know how to sign out of iCloud =

Thank you for the screen shot. I did step 3 (sign out) and step 4 (Keep ICloud data on Mac) and did't get prompted for 5. The result was I have to sign back in to iCloud. After I do this, there is a pop-up dialog box asking to allow access to iCloud items on the Web. This dialog box CANNOT be closed, and System Settions cannot be closed so I can't reboot. Instead, I power-cycled the machine, log into the MacBook, and get the same dialog box loop with the terms and conditions!

This is so, so frustrating. It should NOT be this hard to use a mature, premium product!

Apple Community, please help - there has to be a way to fix this without restoring my Macbook to factory and re-applying all patches, updates, settings, restoring files, etc.

If you have an iPhone you can use that to get rid of the message on all your other devices assuming you use iCloud between devices for mail etc.

This is especially good if you have more than one Apple ID as you sill need to clear the message from each id. I have multiple Apple IDs since I got the original iPhone and had a different iTunes Acct.

Settings->Mail->click on your Apple ID and clear the message. you may have to do for each email account but then they are gone on your Mac as well. Permanently removed the message for me.

I am not an expert so these are just suggestions.

Have you tried apple support. They have an option for an online chat or you can have them call you at a convenient time. Just go to apple.com and look at the top or way on the bottom for a support link.

Regarding iCloud account. This is my understanding of how it works.

Do you have an Apple ID? an iCloud.com or me.com email? Do you use the App Store to download apps? That Apple ID email is your iCloud account and whatever password you use to sign in the App Store is most likely your iCloud password. From your Mac or iPad go to settings and your name should show up at the top along with the email that you used to register your device and that should be your Apple ID. I believe everyone get like 2 gig of iCloud storage. The message you can't clear is connected to your apple id. So accessing your Apple ID from iCloud might work.

Good luck. But really, try Apple support.

The thought occurred to me to report this as a bug. However, this thread shows the problem dates back to Nov, 2022. It has almost certainly already been reported. Also, this bug is subtle enough that it would take a lot of effort to describe what parts of this thread are relevant to proving that this bug still exists as of May, 2023. Making a meaninful bug report at this stage is no easy task.

Is there any way for me to check if it has already been reported as a bug? Firefox and other open source projects maintain bug tracking systems that the public can read and even contribute to, but for a proprietary company this is very rare. Is Apple different?

Also, there have been several helpful suggestions that I try stuff on my iPhone. Well, I have two iPhones that died. The one I used most recently probably still works, if I can charge it...which requires plugging in the cable and wiggling it just right until the iPhone shows signs of life, then more wiggling and finesse to get it in a stable position on my desk so it will keep charging when I let go of the cable. Oh, and I'm not 100% sure which phone is the one that still works so I have to try to charge both of them. I've been messing with these phones and my cable for a couple of days and I'm ready to give up now. Did I even use that phone during the relevant time period that might have triggered this bug?

I keep coming back to...this is way, way beyond anything a user should be expected to put up with. It is unreasonable to expect that *if* I ever even once used an iPhone since the previous T&C update, a terms and conditions bug on a laptop can only be properly isolated/diagnosed (not necessarily solved!) if I still have access to the relevant iPhone.

I managed to resolve the pop-up issue related to new iCloud terms and conditions on my MacBook Pro. I have a few iCloud accounts linked to all my devices. I discovered that one iCloud account on the MacBook Pro required password verification. However, the account needing verification did not match the one I had initially clicked on. Interestingly, I found a similar mismatch issue on my iPad Mini as well. To solve this, I deleted the affected iCloud account and the account it was getting mixed up with from both the MacBook Pro and iPad Mini. After doing so, the pop-up issue was resolved. I then added the accounts back and have not faced any issues since.

Why did I loose all my bonus point and all the points I had bought previously when I agree to the new terms on my hit it rich app. I lost everything thing that I had, bonus points in the billion, and was bought given a brand new app where I am starting all over like it’s my first time on hit it rich, No! I been on this site over 10 years faithfully! and many of the games are lock. I have had this app for over 10 years and have spent lot of monet buying points, now to loose everything and start from the beginning is totally not right. If I don’t get all my points back and unlock almost every game that I had before this new agreement, I’m deleting hit it rich, I have been a very loyal customer.

Please respond to me,
