Time Machine

Hi. I'm running Ventura 13.0.1 on iMac 24", M1, 2021. 16 GB, 500 GB storage.

Mac is for personal use. No movies or large video projects.

I intend to use Time Machine for back-up on LaCie SSD Pro external 1 TB.

May I partition the LaCie and still use Time Machine?

I'm using 245 GB of volume on Mac HD and would probably partition 750 GB of space on the LaCie.

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks

Yes.

I don't recommend it though. Not only is 750 GB almost certain to be too small, a catastrophic failure will result in the simultaneous loss of all partitions.

Even 1 TB isn't much any more. You can buy a 2 TB hard disk drive for perhaps another ten dollars than a 1 TB HDD.

SSDs are nice but their speed advantage is totally meaningless with Time Machine.
