mail rules don't work

I am trying to setup a simple rule to forward messages from a user.

I am using this on my work email account (using imap)

for now I am just testing it, so I have the following:


Description: Test

if all of the following conditions are met:

Account David (this is my email account name I want to forward from)

From. Contains aliexpress.com. (I want to forward all emails from aliexpress)


Perform the following actions:

Forward message To (the email address I want to forward to)


I hit ok, and choose "Don't apply", because I don't want it to go through all my emails.


I then go to an email in my account named david, from aliexpress, and click apply rules, but nothing happens.


This rule is the only one I have set to active.


I have also left it for a day to see if new emails get forwarded (they don't).

That brings up a good point. If you’re not seeing it forward either maybe set up your same rule, but move the messages to a folder instead of forwarding. That would isolate the action of forwarding from the function of the rule to see if the rule works, but forwarding doesn’t.

It is really too bad this just does not work. I am a little frustrated because I just switched to a mac thinking things would work better than linux (which I used to use). But I guess I am going to have to stop using mac mail and install thunderbird (which does work). I thought maybe I was just doing something wrong, but I really don't see what it could be, and why this does not work, and from the sounds of it, it is just a problem with mac mail (which looks like it has been a problem since Catalina or earlier. I am starting to regret my decision to go with a mac.

This is just a test forwarder, and I seem to get a lot of emails from aliexpress, and was an email address I don't mind putting on a public forum, so I used it for a test. I may not need to use the account, but for testing purposes I am forwarding it to another account of mine, and don't want to create an endless loop of forwarding to myself.


I was playing around with a lot of things, and I did get one email forwarded last night, but not all of them, and the manual apply rules does not forward.... I am confused as to why this is not working.
