When I send a text to my wife on my iPhone, she gets the text, and I can see her reply on my iPhone, but not on my Mac. When I send the text from my Mac, she gets it and I can see her reply on my Mac, but not on my phone. What's going on, and why don't they sync?

Apparently iCloud Messages is not set up on both devices. So, enable it...

Apparently iCloud Messages is not set up on both devices. So, enable it...
I suggest, on your iPhone, going to Settings, then selecting Messages, then scrolling down to the Text Message Forwarding item. There you will find the option to turn on text message sharing with your other devices.
