Can I use the Watch Ultra with a physical nano dual sim iPhone 14PM?

So, I got to get the cellular working with the help of an iPhone 11, converting my existing SIM to an eSim, pairing it with my Watch Ultra.
But my main phone is a 14 Pro Max with a physical dual sim version with no eSim functionality.
I proceeded to unpair the watch from the iPhone 11 while retaining the eSim within the watch, then paired it to my 14PM. The cellular plan showed up but was not 'available for use'.

Are dual physical SIM versions of iPhones just not compatible with Cellular versions of Apple watch?

PS

My main SIM on my 14 PM is a prepaid one which doesn't work with watches as I learned.
Please excuse my lack of understanding eSIMs. I'm new to this thing.TIA

They would be compatible, but the Watch does not use a physical SIM, they use the eSIM. The carrier that you wish to use would have to be able to activate an eSIM on the Watch.
