Calendar Search not working on iPhone

The search function in the calendar app no longer works. No matter what I search I get “no events”. Does anyone know how to get this back? The events are still in the calendar, they just aren’t found using the search option.

I was just on the phone with Apple support about this same issue and here is the fix that they gave me that worked: Settings>Mail>Account (select the correct account)>Calendar

then toggle OFF calendar. It asks if you want to delete the account and you accept. After about a minute, toggle it back on, and the calendar entries will start repopulating, and the search function will start working. Depending on how many calendar entries you have, it will take a while to update, but I have thousands and it updated in less than one hour. Search function works again.

Thank you SOOO MUCH! I’ve been working on this for days and was going to return my new phone! I didn’t realize that my calendar is not an iCloud calendar, it’s Gmail and this was the answer! I’ve tried everything that everyone else said and yours hit the jackpot! I cannot thank you enough! This was your fix:

Settings>Mail>Account (select the correct account)>Calendar

then toggle OFF calendar. It asks if you want to delete the account and you accept. Hi Michelle Schloot,

Have you tried restarting your iPhone since noticing this happening? It's a simple step, but it can sometimes resolve unexpected issues, therefore worth a try.

Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

For other iPhone models, see the above article.

Test, and if you're still not getting any search results, we'd advise to contact Apple Support. Let them know what's happening, so they can take a closer took at this issue.

Take care!

After initially restarting my iPhone, I was able to fix my calendar search issue by going to Mail-> Calendar and turning each account off. Selected Yes to Delete from my iPhone. Then I went to Apple ID -> iCloud-> Apps using iCloud and turned off Calendar there. Then back to each mail account and turned each calendar back on.

The last step was to turn Calendar back on in iCloud-> Apps using iCloud. This did the trick for me when restarting or doing the two parts by themselves didn’t. iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 16.2

I had this issue after updating to iOS 17. My fix is slightly different because my calendar events are connected to my iCloud account, not an email server. If yours are too, try this:

-go to settings

-select your Apple ID

-select iCloud

-under “Apps Using iCloud” touch “Show All”

-find “iCloud Calendar” and toggle it off where it says “Use on this iPhone.” Select “delete from this phone” to confirm. Your events will come back when you turn it back on after a minute or two.

It took a little bit for the events to repopulate, but when they did, my search function works again!

This happened to me when I upgraded phones.

I only have one personal calendar, which is synced through Gmail and iCloud. My new iPhone has iOS 17.4.1.

I tried all the non-delete options first, but they didn’t work. I was able to fix by deleting the calendar and then turning the sync back on.

I went to Calendar -> Accounts and selected my Google calendar. Then I toggled Calendars off, and when prompted chose delete. Then I toggle back on.

My calendar was empty at first but immediately started repopulating. Search subsequently worked.

Don’t try this if your calendar lives ONLY in your phone and isn’t syncing with something.

I tried all suggestions on this page and here’s the only one that worked for calendar search…..Settings-mail-accounts-turn off account calendar you use for calendar-go back to settings-apple id-icloud-show all-icloud calendar (not calendar) and turn it off-go back to accounts and turn on account calendar-go back to iCloud calendar, turn it on and events should repopulate.
