Weather app not in background app refresh

My weather app widget on my Lock Screen shows as “unavailable” even though I have my location services as “always” for the weather app.

it was suggested I make sure background app refresh is on for the weather app, but then I go into that part of my settings, the weather app isn’t there for me to toggle on or off.

I want to get the widget functioning on my Lock Screen, I’ve already tried deleting the weather app and reinstalling as well.

Hey there SumKa22,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, does the information for the Weather app widget update if you open the Weather app on your iPhone, and then view the widget it again?

If not, since you've already tried removing and reinstalling the Weather app, have you also tried restarting your iPhone? If not, give that a try with the steps shown here:

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

While restarting may seem like a simple step, it can often help with resolving some issues like this by resetting the connection with certain services.
