How do I get the popups in icloud mail to stop

Clearly there has been an update to icloud mail. Now when I sign in to my mail I get a constant stream of popups: an envelope with a sender name and a topic. How do I get it to stop?

If you are using Mac OS catalina 10.5.7 the settings are in mail preferences , uncheck the box of remote content Change Viewing preferences in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Choose the mailbox for which you want notifications to be displayed when messages arrive.

To be displayed, the alert style must be set to Banners or Alerts for Mail in Notifications settings. To open Notifications settings, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Notifications in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

You can take suggestions from senior apple care advisors , prefer to do a screen sharing with them , may be some safari extensions are installed , or there is some issue in mail application , I would suggest for the time being create a new admin account in users and groups and then configure mail accounts , see if that pop up still appears .

I'm having the same problem with the new iCloud mail. Every time a new email arrives when I'm going through my inbox on the MacBook, a pop-up appears at the top of the window. Yes, it disappears after a few seconds but it's annoying and I'd like to find a way to stop this happening. I've tried going into settings to see if there's a way to turn off the pop-ups, but nothing seems to work. Am attaching a partial screenshot to show what it looks like.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for all the assistance. None of this has worked. I am using Monterey 12.6 and Firefox. I did try opening my mail in Safari and then tried the Safari related suggestions and blocked pop up windows (I was already on block and notify, so I changed it to just block), but notifications keep happening.

In my Mail app I already had Notifications off.

I wonder if this has to do with viewing my mail in iCloud instead of the Mail app?
