When trying to stream on Netflix, Disney+, Udemy, there is always a black screen with sound on Safari.

I've done everything recommended online including:

  • Clearing browser cache and cookies
  • Disabling Content Blockers
  • Auto-Play to Allow All Auto-Play

So far nothing has worked.

Is there anyone that has had a similar experience recently that can possibly help?

Hi,

I've tried that as well, but still the same.

Hello,

I had a similar experience when watching Netflix recently. Other streaming services did not seem to be effected. For me, the culprit was a dark mode extension I use for Safari. After turning the extension off Netflix returned to its normal function.

If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected - Apple Support

"Check Safari extensions

If you installed any Safari extensions, make sure that they are up to date.

You can also try turning extensions off. From the menu bar in Safari, choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences). Click Extensions, then deselect the checkbox for each extension to turn it off. Learn more about Safari extensions. "

I hope this helps.
