brother printer HL-L2300D not showing up

Have had no problems. Needed new toner so put that in. I deleted the printer under printers and drivers as I thought I did not need toner according to the setting said I still had some. So bought ink. Seems okay green light is on but I cannot get the printer to show up under printer and scanner preferences! Have tried everything. Even go to print "add Printer nothing shows up...Have iMac USB.. Montery 12.6.1.... It was working fine until I tried to get it back under printer and scanners...Nothing is happening!!!!!Very frustrating

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 12.6

Hi,

Have you tried to reset the printing system and re-add the printer in accordance with the following articles?

Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

It is usually a good idea to power cycle the printer and the computer.

If necessary, a printer driver can be found here:

Hi Thank You I did manage to get it going. Unplugging USB a few times to the computer I guess did it. But why does it say using generic driver and check it....? I did download what was on brothers site. What is a generic driver... Guess what is important it works...TY

A generic driver is typically a driver that can be used with printers using a PCL or postscript language; that is, not for one specific printer model.

Anyway, good to hear that the printer is working.
