I have an SD card reader for my iPhone, using the lighting connector, is there an adaptor for the USB-C connector for my iPad Pro?
or would I have to purchase an brand new card reader?

You’ll not be able to use the Lightning to SD Card Adapter with a USB-C port. For iPad models with a USB-C port, you will need a USB-C to SD Card Adapter, or a regular USB Camera Card Reader.
