Blurry Camera Image in Apps

Is anyone having an issue with the camera being able to focus for a close picture when using other apps? I have found this to be a consistent issue across several apps. Moving the phone in or zooming in renders a blurry picture.

Hey JoKirch,

The steps under "If you want to try more steps on your own" are a great starting point when facing an issue with blurry photos: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working - Apple Support

If you want to try more steps on your own

If you prefer, here are some more steps you can try on your own if the camera isn't working. You might still need to contact Apple Support after following these steps.

1. If the photo is blurry, clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens or if the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.
2. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch
3. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both isn’t working. To switch cameras, tap the rotate button .

If the behavior continues, let us know more to narrow this down:

  • Does this also happen in the Camera app or only with third-party apps that use the camera?
  • Which exact software version shows in Settings > General > About?

Keep us posted.

Take care!

Yes, already done all of those steps, but thank you. This is also happening on my husband’s phone as well—same make, model, and software version.

It only happens with third party apps—not when just using the camera. Software version is 16.1.1. We started noticing this within the last few updates. We keep hoping it will be resolved.
