Ethernet internet for projector and apple tv

I have a garden room and the wifi buffers occasionally when watching Apple TV via the projector. I have bought a long Ethernet cable which is in the router and the other end is in the projector. The Apple TV is connected to the projector via HDMI cable - am I now receiving internet wired via Ethernet? As it has buffered again? Do I need to put Ethernet into Apple TV instead? what other suggestions please?

Apple TV will need an internet connection through Wi-Fi or ethernet. It will not do ethernet over HDMI – I don’t know of any consumer device that does support that (other than the HDMI cables themselves).

  • If both your Apple TV and (smart) projector can/should use ethernet, then I would suggest an ethernet switch. That means the bandwidth will be shared, but that is no issue, as one at a time will connect to the internet, not both simultaneously.
  • If the projector always gets its input from the Apple TV box, then only the Apple TV needs ethernet.
