ATI Radeon HD 5770 in MacPro 1,1

Does the HD 5770 support 3 monitors on a Mac Pro 1.1 ?
I have three 20" cinema displays, will they require any special adapters like the dual link dvi adapter or will they work with the regular DVI to mini display adapter? I understand there is one dvi port and two mini display ports on the card, unsure as to what adapters i should get for monitor 2 and 3.
Any help would be much appreciated. =)

Will a 5770 bought at amazon.com work in the first generation Mac Pro? Or do we have to buy the 5770 kit from Apple? There's a $100 price difference between the two. Here's the 5770 link to amazon:

Today I replaced my XT1900 with the HD5770 in my 2006 MacPro 1,1

Power off, replace, Power on, ready. It's that simple.

The card is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more silent. One of the most important changes to me. The MacPro is really very silent now, I'm happy.

Unless you place it in the double wide PCI Express slot it will take two spots.

I've got a modded Nvidia 8800 GTS, 512. Anyone that can tell me how these two compare?

I too own a 2006 Mac Pro, and thinking of getting an Apple Cinema Display. To make it work, I'm considering getting one of the 5770 cards too.

I'm currently running an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. I don't know an awful lot about graphics cards - the main reason for changing card is to enable compatibility with the ACD!

I don't, however, want to buy the card just for the sake of the display, if the card is a downgrade from the NVIDIA. I'm willing to spend a little extra to get the display running, but NOT if it's a downgrade from what I have now!

Ah, you are looking at 2005 low low end card (7300GT) and a more recent ATI from 2009-2010. No, it won't be a downgrade or anything, but your system has to be running 10.6.5, and there is no 10.6.5 DVD as far as I know yet, 10.6.3 and then upgrade.

Lucky that your 7300 still works.

I'd suggest looking at some reviews and benchmarks, though next to impossible to side by side of 7300 vs 5770. 10GB/sec vs 100GB? or 256MB VRAM vs 1GB? plus all the processing cores.

I just installed this card. I opened photoshop cs5 and the open GL will not recognize the card. I looked in the profiler in the PCI cards are and it indicates no driver is installed. Can't locate the driver at ATI either. Anyone know more about this? Its brand new. I need to return if I cant get it going.

Yes it is. Figured out my issue. I had one display on the new card and one on the old card. I purchased the Mini Display to DVI cable at apple store today and put both monitors on the Radon 5770 card. Works like a champ. This is a great GPU....Working on 1.5GB PSD files is a pleasure. Everything "snaps" into place with no delays. Love it.
