Hi UrsulaCWitch,

Regarding creating a backup to a computer when you can't access the device screen, you would've had to previously selected the option to "Trust This Computer" as outlined in the article here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your PC

If there's an alternate computer you used with your iPhone, test connecting and making a backup there as well.

If you previously had iCloud automatic backups enabled, and the conditions are met, you may be able force an iCloud backup with the steps in the section "Back up iPhone using iCloud" here: Back up iPhone

However, options are limited due to the condition of your iPhone screen.

Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service

Best.

Hi, OriganiFan1,

There has been a recent change to the computer backup procedure; you are now required to enter the phone’s passcode every time you back up. It is a solution to a reported and verified vulnerability. The reason it is required for computer backups is because there is an identified vulnerability that has been seen in the wild that would allow a bad actor to back up, and then gain access to the backup on a computer, as reported in the National Vulnerability Database→https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-32929

and as described in a “how to" here→https://theevilbit.github.io/posts/cve-2022-32929/
