How long does an Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation with 4G LTE connection last without an iPhone?

I'm thinking of getting this for my boys to use while they are at school. Has anyone tested the 2nd generation to determine if it can last a good 8 hours without their paired iPhones packed in their bags?

If you can share any real life experiences, that would be awesome. Thank you in advance.

I should also add, I found this article: Apple Watch Battery

In this article, they came close to what I was looking for. For the Apple Watch SE, this is what is mentioned about expected battery life when 4G LTE is used.

Family Setup Battery Life

Up to 14 hours

Family Setup battery life is based on the following use: 70 time checks, 45 notifications,
20 minutes of app use, a 5-minute phone call, and a 30-minute workout with music playback from
Apple Watch via Bluetooth, over the course of 14 hours with 4G LTE connection and Find My
location sharing enabled. Testing conducted by Apple in August 2022 using preproduction Apple
Watch SE (2nd generation) (GPS + Cellular); all devices tested with prerelease software.
Battery life varies by use, configuration, mobile network, signal strength and many other
factors; actual results will vary.

It is not entirely clear how long the watch can last without a phone as there appears to be a phone nearby (bluetooth connection for music playback). I am also not sure what "Family Setup battery life" actually means.

Again, unclear. Wishing there was two statements for how long it can last without the phone when connected over Wifi and separately when connected to 4G LTE.

Hello laugher,

Please check out this link, as it has some information about using Apple Watch without its paired iPhone being nearby, and may help: Use your Apple Watch without your iPhone nearby

When your iPhone is off or out of range, your Apple Watch can use a Wi-Fi network to send and receive data. Your watch can also connect to a cellular network if it's a cellular model. And if you've set up an Apple Watch for a family member, they can use a cellular or Wi-Fi connection with their watch.

When your Apple Watch is connected to Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi icon  appears in Control Center. When it's connected to cellular, the cellular icon  appears.

For information on Apple Watch battery life and performance, please check out this link, which outlines that information, and what to expect: Apple Watch Battery and Performance

Your Apple Watch is designed to deliver an experience that is simple and easy to use. This is only possible through a combination of advanced technologies and sophisticated engineering. One important technology area is battery and performance. Batteries are a complex technology, and a number of variables contribute to battery performance and related Apple Watch performance. All rechargeable batteries are consumables and have a limited lifespan—eventually their capacity and performance decline. As batteries age, it can contribute to changes in Apple Watch performance. Thank you!

Thanks @Brittany1416.

I had already canvassed the first article you linked. The second article was new and while it does provide some information on how Apple watch manages power and battery utilization, it doesn't give me any real or tested run times for a watch without an iPhone nearby.

If they had something like this;

"Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation can run up to 8 hours using Wifi6"

"Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation can run up to 4 hours using 4G LTE connection"

Then that would have been the answers I was looking for and would allow me to purchase these as Christmas gifts this year.

I guess I will continue to look for a different gift this year for the boys.

Again, thank you for your helpful links.
