SMS option missing

I have a new 14 and can’t get iMessage to activate. When I first started troubleshooting “send as SMS” was an option. Now, it’s not there anymore. Is this a carrier issue? Why did it disappear when I started changing settings related to iMessage? Btw, there is no block on my account as I’ve already reached out to support for help with this issue.

Hi KaylaMarie258,

For help with activating iMessage, you'll need to be sure you can send regular SMS text messages to assist with the activation process. Test the steps below found in the article here: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime

"Check your device settings

  1. Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network.
  2. If you're using an iPhone, you need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
  3. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that your time zone is set correctly."

If the issue continues, complete a normal restart of your iPhone and test. If the issue remains and your carrier shows you should have SMS text messages enabled on your account, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.
