Blurry After Editing

Same thing. Just discovered bug today. Panasonic camera. Not expecting this to be fixed in my lifetime. Am looking for macOS RAW photo editing app. Will edit/export RAW files with it when necessary or just use the matching jpeg as is or with minor edits. Will continue to store images in Photos library.

Have to say I'm very disappointed. I spoke with a Senior Advisor by the name of John who promised to look into this and gave me his email and then, despite contacting him a few times to inquire about the progress, never heard from him again. Apple's support for this problem has been terrible.

Problem persists since Big Sur. Using Nikon RAW images.

None of the suggested workarounds help (rotating, etc.).

I really hope Apple fixes this.

[Edit] just sent a message to the photos-team as suggested elswhere in this thread. Maybe, if everybody with that problem does it, they'll eventually try to fix this annoying bug.

I have the blurry photo after editing issue. I've actually deleted some photos because I thought they were out of focus. I did not see this in Monterey. So much for updating OS.

Definitely NOT fixed in macOS Sonoma 14.0, the public release.

Apple chose to implement a load of eye candy nonsense that is nothing but fluff and gimmicks yet can't resolve an issue that's impacting many users on a daily basis.

Very, very disappointing.

That'd be a great solution (I didn't know it exists).

But when I try to use any of Affinity's plugins, I get an error message: Cannot load representation of type PUEditingInitialPayloadTypeIdentifier

Seems like Photos doesn't have just one bug… :(

I have just Googled this issue and found this thread of comments about exactly the problem I am having. I upgraded to Ventura on my MacBook Pro a few weeks ago (I was delaying an upgrade as still using 32 Bit software!). I did not have this problem prior to upgrading when I was using Mojave.

I uploaded RAW files taken with my Canon 5D Mk3 today. I have exactly the same problem that as soon as I edit them, when I return to the general view screen they are blurred - only the edited version not the untouched ones. I did not have this problem when using an older version of OSX.

If what others have said is true - in that this is a recognised problems of well over a year - it is totally ridiculous. I should not have to purchase expensive 3rd party software simply to overcome a bug from Apple on kit that is incredible expensive.

As a footnote, I did try the fix of rotating 90 degrees in Edit, saving, re-entering Edit mode and then rotating back again and saving but the image was still blurred when I returned to the general view.

As the original post is well over a year ago from 2022, has anyone been able to discover a fix or patch to resolve this? Thanks everyone in advance - I know we are all incredibly frustrated by this!!

Unfortunate, then, as I would not be expecting an update to the previous version of Photos. I might be wrong, but that is my read based on experience. By all means contact Apple and let them know what you think.

@Deb_B I couldn't agree more! I loved Aperture and it had far more functionality than Photos. I used to be able to 'colour pop' images and to precisely clone and remove artefacts but it's no where near as fine in Photos.

No blurry issue for me after editing RAW files from my Canon Powershot G7X or my iPhone 12 Pro (ProRAW photos).

I was not using Photos app on Ventura, but it's OK (for these cameras at least) on Sonoma 14.4 / Photos 9.0.

Same problem, two different macbooks. It ruins the whole photo editing process.

Two different MacBooks, late 2011 15” MacBook Pro and an 2021 16” MBP with an M1 processor. I thought getting a new MBP might fix the problem. I was wrong.

Glad to see I’m not alone. This is causing a major hassle for me. Any sign yet of Apple acknowledging that there is an issue? I’m on an Intel iMac.
