Apple ID login location is not correct

Question

Apple ID login location is not correct

When this happened, I immediately thought that I was being hacked, changed my password, and still shows me in LA, I live in N Charleston SC (that's crazy, cross country!). I saw other people reporting being in other places when they were not. Is there something going on with the Apple servers? Has Apple been hacked?

If this is an e-mail you received, or a popup on the screen, about the time you were actually logging in, there is probably nothing to worry about. The location is where your ISP reported it. If their servers are in a location distant from you, there will be a large error. Based on other posts I have read, the distant error can be very large.
