30 pin adapter not working on ios 16

Same problem here, having huge range of 30 pin accessories (Tascam iXJ2, Tascam iM2, Rode iXY). Very pity since these are quality products. It appears the only solution is revert back to iOS 15.7.1 Found a guide on YT, work around with iTunes. Not sure how safe it is. Has anybody tried? No sure if will look for a new light stereo mic, as it is supposed be replaced by USB-C. Any suggestions folks/ support are welcome. Thanks Martin

It does appear that the microphone compatibilty with iOS ended back with iOS 8: iM2 Supported OS

Chris: just dropping you a note to say I’m glad I found someone else with this problem. I have also used the iM2 with no problems up until iOS 16 on an iPad 9. Fortunately I still have an iPhone 11 and an iPad Air3 that are still on iOS 15, and now I’m planning to keep them that way. I hope you have good luck finding a similar microphone…

I'm a manufacturer of an MFi product (again a microphone) that also has a 30-pin connector and works fine currently with iOS 15.7.1, but does not work on any Lightning equipped iOS device running iOS 16.1 or 16.2. I assume that Apple has deprecated support for the Accessory communication protocol starting with iOS 16.

Is this problem limited by 30 pen adapter to lightning devices only or does the dedicated lightning mics for iphone/ipad have the same problem with incompatibility?

Also, i have a Tascam iM2 with 32 pen adapter that still works with ios 16.3 on ipad 7th gen. I’m using it with Twisted Wave and it still gives me stereo recordings! But when i connect the same gear to my ipad 9th gen. and Twisted Wave it is not recognized and i’m left with the mics that are built in!

So is it really an ios problem?

So, i have purchased a Røde i-XY-L (lightning version) and it gives me stereo recordings using Twisted Wave app installed on my iPad 9th gen. with ios 16.3 installed!

I am very satisfied with this result as i thought something could be wrong with the lightning connector on my iPad.

I bought it new, quit cheap for 87 euros!

Seems 30 pin adaptor is over.

Was forced to purchase new mic. Bought Shure MV88, and can confirm it works with iOS 16.3.1.

However every further iOS update might be potentially incompatible. Prior update will make a backup. There is jusually time frame about two weeks for rolling back.

As that product compatibility was ended, the adapters will likely no longer work with it, as well. This appears to be expected behavior.

Same on me , iPad with 15.7 still work but not with iPhone 13 iPhone 7plus with latest os version. Would not update iPad version, and strongly disagree apple ditching old accessories.

I too have a 30 pin product that no longer works with 16. Typical apple to decide to brick devices in order to force new purchases so they can do it again in a few years.
