Full screen apps go to the right of all desktops

when i put a app or website into fullscreen, it goes all the way to the right of all my desktops on my mac. is there a way to make it so it just goes to the right of the desktop it was full-screened from? it is very annoying if it goes into fullscreen and i swipe right with three fingers on my trackpad to go back to the desktop it was on, and it instead takes me to a different desktop.

thanks!

in the image you can see the full screen safari moves all the way to the right of all the desktops.

Open System Settings and search for Desktop & Dock, scroll down to Mission Control and turn on "Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use".
