Constant issues sending email on Mail 16.0

Hello,

I've never had any issues sending email with my business email provider using Mail before, but have constant problems since updating to Ventura (I've currently on 13.0.1).

Every other time and try and send an email, I get a sending error, suggesting that Mail is having difficulty connecting with the mail server, and asks me whether I'd like to try and send with another outgoing server.

Closing the email (and saving it as a draft), opening the email back up and pressing send works perfectly.

I've tried changing the Undo send setting to Off (thinking that that may be causing some sort of issue), but that didn't do anything. With the setting off I still saw Undo send in the bottom left, and in fact, still see this sitting there now, many minutes after sending my last email.

I'm confident my server settings are correct. The fact emails send half the time proves this I think.

Is anyone else having issues like this?

Thanks in advance.

Try going to Mail -> Settings and Accounts. Select the account with the problem and uncheck the box to enable the account. Then try adding the account back in. If that works then something hiccuped when your mail configuration was converted for Ventura. Once you are sure it's working, you can delete the disabled account entry.

You can also click on the menu bar drop-down list for Mailbox and Rebuild at the bottom of the menu. Then click the menu bar drop-down for Window and click on Activity to monitor the rebuilding process, warning; it can take quite a long time if you have a lot of email. It won't do any harm and it might fix a wonky mailbox datastore that could be triggering the problem.

HI James,

I've tried this with one of my email accounts, without any change.

It's affecting all of our team, and all of our email addresses (which are 10 or so). I very much doubt they are all corrupt!

I reached out for some support from our mail provider (who are pretty big here in the UK). It is affecting many users and apparently Apple are aware of the issue.

So I guess it's a case of waiting tight until they release an update.

Thanks,

Oli

I thought it might be useful for me to include exactly the error message I get:

Cannot send message

The attempt to read data from the server “imap.correctemailservername.com” failed.

Pretty nondescript! I have obviously change the server address, but this is correct.

More than half the time it works, but it fails with such regularity that it is getting mega annoying.
