How do I change the phone name and email under settings

I have given my old iPhone to my mother. I have changed it to her name but it won’t allow me to enter her email address as it says that address is already used. Well of course because it is her address. When she tries to phone me on FaceTime it shows a call coming to me from my own email address and not her name? Can anyone help. Thanks

@vzwpix.com When my mother text me, it comes from her iPhone to my iPhone as an email instead of a text message. It lands in my outlook account as her phone number, followed by @vzwpix.com How do we get this to stop happening? It only happens when she sends to me… Not when I send to her. We have gone through contacts, the message section in settings, etc. Please help!

My mom’s number connected to my apple ID So I found this question on this site: “Okay so my Apple I.D. is somehow connected to my mom’s phone number??? I took myself off the family plan and they’re still connected to each other. For example, my Apple I.D. photo is her contact photo in my phone??? Whenever i try to change one, they both change to be the same photo. And when someone airdrops me something, the name that pops up is “Mother” (which is her contact name in my phone). My name doesn’t pop up, her contact name does. My mom and I have no clue why my phone does this so does anyone know???” I had the exact same problem!! So after a little more research, it turns out that the only thing I needed to do was change “my” number to my actual number. It worked and I am soooo relieved so I decided to let you guys know just in case you had the same problem.

Your mother has to read -> this Apple article: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then your mother has to remove the iPhone from her account, see this Apple article:

Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in

Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in - Apple Support

Then you can sign in with own your Apple ID and you can add your phone number.

Sign in to your Apple ID account page and edit / update your Apple ID details.

then edit your trusted phone number.
