New MacBookPro migration issues with apps: "installation failed - An error occurred during installation"

Hello,


I've just migrated from an old MacBookPro (running Big Sur 11.7) to a new one, and I keep getting this message when I try to open apps on my new machine (running Monterey 12.5):


"installation failed - An error occurred during installation"


I have uninstalled, and then tried to re-install, but I keep getting the same thing.


Apps it's happening with:


WhatsApp

Zoom

Box

DropBox

i1Studio


...and the list continues.


Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.


If you haven't added anything to your new MacBook Pro, you could try erasing it and then starting Migration again from your old Mac. You could de-select these Applications from the Migration menu and then when your computer is set up again, redownload them. This may end up resolving the issue for you.


These articles will help your work through the process.


  1. Erase your Mac and reset it to factory settings
  2. Move content to a new Mac

Either (1) data corruption occurred during the transfer or (2) the apps are older apps and are not compatible with your computers operating system. If it is #1 did you do the transfer via a wire USB connection or via Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi or a network can cause corruption of data because it is too slow for large transfers. You can likely solve the problem by downloading and reinstalling the newest versions of your apps. Give that a try.
