AirPods Pro gen 2 - ANC gradually getting weaker during longer use

Whenever I insert the second gen of AirPods Pro into my ears and ANC engages, everything goes completely quiet. My ventilation system cannot be heard anymore. But after I've had the AirPods in my ears for a longer period (maybe an hour) I notice that the noise suppression has gradually become weaker. My ventilation system can now be heard again, but at a low volume.

Taking the AirPods out, placing them in the case, and taking putting them in again, solves the problem.

Furthermore, I've noticed a few times that the ANC can get a out-of-phase sound after a while. This can happen suddenly and lead to a really weird audio sensation.

Has anyone else encountered this issues?

Btw, I'm on the latest update - 5B58

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities Miltontheman,

We can certainly understand your concern and are here to help.

Let's try resetting the AirPods to see if that helps. Check out these steps on how to reset your AirPods.

" You might need to reset your AirPods if they won't charge, or to fix a different issue.

  1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case.
  4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
  5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
  6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

AirPods can be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use AirPods (3rd generation) or AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation) that someone else has used, they first need to remove the AirPods from their Apple ID.

* When you reset your AirPods, the settings for your AirPods also reset. You can change your settings again. "

Kindest regards!

Hi! Thanks for the swift answer! Resetting the AirPods was actually one of the first things I did, but it had no effect. I may also add that that the problems I wrote about occur even when spatialise stereo is off. The phased sound character of the ANC often starts when I’ve been using the AirPods for a while on noise cancelling mode and have been talking in a call.
