When my paired iPhone is not close, or is off, my ultra watch wifi is not refreshing apps like e-mails, maps, etc. I have changed mirror settings to custom and enabled my e-mail accounts. the wifi is on, the watch is connected to the router, but it does not download any e-mails. pls see msg below: Is it a glitch, or is there a setting that I can change to make it work?

That's good to know! Do you use a VPN or security software? We ask as they can block connections, so if you use a VPN or security software, disable them to see if that helps with the issue you're having. • Your Mac is connected to the network via Ethernet but can’t access the internet.

Contacted Apple Support, it appears it is happening to many apple watch models (previous and current) and it is a s/w issue, or so they said. They promised it will be fixed in next OS update, not the 9.2
Then return the watch under the Apple warranty.

Hey BrianK90, thx for the reply. I have the latest updates installed (iOS 16.1.2 and wOS 9.1). Have restarted, re-paired the ultra to the iPhone, but still when the phone is away, or in airplane mode and while the watch connected to the router via wifi, emails don’t refresh, Maps not loading, and generally any app requiring data is not refreshing…

thx for the reply. There is no VPN network, and I have connected a Mac, TV, iPhones, iPads and everything works via airplay, and continuity. So if there is a security setting, the other devices wouldn't cooperate as well. Plus, I have tried it to a few wifi routers, and it has the same result: Ultra is not fetching data when the paired iPhone is not near, or in airplane mode.
I have contacted to Apple support, still have no solution... they only said that it should work. Plus I checked a friend's older apple watch with the same router and his iPhone turned off, and it downloads e-mails... So it is either a glitch, or an Ultra issue
