Apple Maps and Google Maps freezing on CarPlay during navigation

The issue is with Apple car play. All maps Google, Apple, and waze are freezing after a few minutes of usage in most of the cars of different manufacturers. My friend facing the same issue in the Honda Jazz car and I'm facing it in the new-gen Maruti Brezza top modal. Our infotainment systems are OEM fitted. Android auto works without issue but ios cause map freezing issues. It could be an issue with iPhone 14 (pro max)devices. Apple needs to fix it asap.

Apple maps also freezing but the frequency is comparatively less. I used navigation apps individually and uninstalled another while using one. It could be an ios 16 issue. There are many threads about the same. Seems like ios killing the app unintentionally to save the battery.

We weren’t using any other navigation in our new subaru when google maps froze navigation. Used it all the way to Texas and back no issues until we upgraded his iPhone to ISO 16. So we went out not to long after and bam it was freezing. We only use one navigation. It is I believe ISO 16 but I am not a tech person. I wonder why an Apple support person had not chimmed in on these. Do they care?

I completely get your frustration and I have this exact same issue. I have also written to Google today as this issue seems specific to Google Maps on iOS 16.(Apple maps works perfectly fine) Either Google or Apple has to come up with a bug fix. Most likely Google as it would be quicker than getting this with he next iOS update. In case you receive any response from either please post here. Meanwhile if I do I will keep this post updated too.

Yup this is a specific Google Maps and iPhone 16 issue.

Anything apart from Apple Maps suffers from this issue including Waze.

However android seems to be not having this issue.

Google maps freezing in Android auto

In my opinion, Apple Maps can do everything that google maps and waze can do. I don't get why folks use either of those when they have an iPhone.

True, you're helping google to learn everything there is to know about you and I'm sure that the compensation from them can be put towards things you need.

It seems since ISO 16 came into play there has been issues for different things from what I hear. I have not downloaded it yet and I am in no hurry until things are remedy. My google mad worked beautiful today on my 2022 Outback. Something got to be done.

when I updated my husbands iPhone to ISO 16 I am thinking that is what caused it but I am not a techician. I like I said did not up date my phone to ISO 16 yet. My husband used google maps on his long trip before updating and google maps worked great. It needs a remedy no excuses.

Did you know that you can "report issues" pertaining to Apple Maps from within the app?

Long story short, I've used it a couple of times for things that some friends told me that google had wrong too, lol.
