Apple Maps and Google Maps freezing on CarPlay during navigation

Both maps applications freezing during navigation on my Honda. I see that a lot of people have the same issue no matter which manufacturer.

It freezes only when we set a destination and navigate. If there is no destination set then the map application does not freeze. So it has got something to do with GPS or Location, I dont know.

If you go back to the main menu of the stereo and click on Apple Carplay again it works fine for a few minutes but then freezes again.

This needs a sudden fix as this can make people lost or take wrong turns.

This is very important if you are passing through a region which is not familiar to you.

Can't expect clumsy behaviors like these from a $1000 phone.

I'm facing the similar issue mentioned above on while using Apple Car Play. I recently purchased Honda Amaze which comes with Alpine stereo system inbuilt however it doesn't work while using the Google Maps or Apple Maps. It's quite frustrating and I'm not really sure who to contact for this.

Same here, most of the time Waze hangs .. lately also Google Maps started to hang. Annoying as **** as you need to enter to cars "native" menu and then back to CarPlay to get it working again. No difference if you are connected over cable or wirelessly.

Car: 2022 product year Volkswagen.

I have a Honda Amaze 2022. It works with Apple Maps perfectly fine. Only Google maps seems to have this issue.

Also side tip: There is a new Firmware update by Honda for Amaze (Reverse Camera flickering issue). I received a call today. You can contact your dealer to fix that issue.

Hi Indranjukar,

my issue with Amaze was specific to a Reverse Camera flickering, which is now resolved after the firmware update.

But Google maps hanging seem to be an issue still even after iOS 16.3 update. Hope google comes up with an update to fix this.

The issue is with google maps only. Probably you had google maps navigation running in the background when you used other navigation

I have not updated to 16 yet cause I said before I think that is what it is. I have no issues at all. APPLE do you not care and GOOGLE.
