How to configure Apple TV Remote to turn HDMI-ARC / HDMI-LINK Projector On/Off

I have an Optoma UHZ50 projector and an Apple TV A1625 model. How can I program the Apple TV remote to turn my projector on and off? So far it's great because I can control the Apple TV as well as my volume with the Apple TV remote. If I can get it to turn my projector on and off, it'll be the only remote I need.

The Optoma UHZ50 is "HDMI LINK" which I believe is the equivalent of CEC. I tried enabling the HDMI LINK settings which give me options such as "Power On Link" and "Power Off Link" with a numbers of options to choose from, but I feel like I'm missing a step regarding how to tell the Apple TV I want it to turn things on and off.

Hello heybusti,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you'd like to customize your Apple TV remote to control the power on your projector. We're happy to provide you with more information.

Powering on/off a device with the Siri remote is handled through a specific setting: Control your TV and volume with the Siri Remote - Apple Support

You'll need to test this with your projector to see if it works. The User Guide mentions TVs specifically.

Cheers!
