Can I add my military/veteran ID card or Apple wallet? If so, how?

I agree with you all, but since there is a free access to any National Park lifetime as long as you show them your digital ID with the unique number assigned, you have to keep it in photos now.

Apple could provide a way to store it and display it like Wallet but in your own phone with a password/fingerprint access.

Looking forward to the VA response when you get it.

I contacted both. Apple told me to contact the military. I contacted the VA and after an hour long wait/talk, I was give an email address to contact. I emailed vetid@*** on Dec 1st 2022, but have not received a response. Perhaps if they get more emails requesting it, maybe we can get answer?

i would just like at least an answer like “no, it cost too much” or “maybe in the future” or even “no, we won’t do it”.

I'm just pondering this topic and wondering, "Why not?"

Then something occurred to me, it could be due to security and/or originality of the card (or any other official ID card).

The VA card is one idea, but why not our drivers licenses too? There are far more folks with a drivers license than whom possess a VA card and yet we don't have an option of storing our DL's in our Apple Wallets.

Idaho, has gone to great lengths to produce what's known as the "Star Card" because it was mandated from the federal government level and was required of all states to do.

Well, if a person could store their Star Card in their Apple Wallet, what's to say that it wasn't forged and stored in there? This is where my concept of security and originality comes into play. Although it sounds handy to you and I, we both know that there are some pretty crafty folks out there that are constantly working to beat the system.

So, looking at it this way, maybe you'll find it to be helpful.

And by the way, THANK YOU for your service!!!

Pilerman, your welcome and thanks for the input. I did take security into consideration, but the VA ID card is more of an ID card to show proof one was in the military so one could get a free cup of coffee on Veterans Day (LOL). Or any other discounts that veterans are offered without having to carry one’s DD-214 which has A LOT more info about that service member that could be used by unscrupulous persons out there. This VA ID card would not get me into the bases, but a retired VA ID card could (I didn’t quite do 20+ years of service - almost but no cigar).

Having been in the military, I’m not expecting an answer from the VA anytime soon (LOL). So I’ll enjoy my free cup of coffee until then.
